1949Roswell High School / shared / milestoneCharles Newton at RoswellThe Hall of Fame biography dates Charles Newton's active coaching at Roswell from 1949 to 1967 and credits him with developing its athletic program, coaching boys and girls basketball, and winning region titles. It says he recruited Bill Yoast for football and track and assisted him in both sports. Newton retired from Roswell in 1977 after 28 years. The biography spells Yoast's name Yost; Yoast's own entry uses Yoast and dates his Roswell service from 1954 through 1960.

1956Roswell High School / shared / milestoneThe 1956-57 volume: a date caveatPages 123 and 124 of GHSA's file labeled 1956-57 show Class C first-round results of Roopville 64, Roswell 43 for boys and Vienna 51, Roswell 12 for girls. The scores and classes were checked against page images, but the pages lack a printed year and the file is marked incomplete. Nearby material includes a 1954 football heading and 1957 track marks; adjacent volumes did not place Roswell in the basketball brackets. A 1957 season date is probable, not established.

1957Roswell High School / boys / milestoneBoys in the Class C bracketThe Class C boys bracket in GHSA's file labeled 1956-57 records a first-round loss to Roopville, 64-43. The score is legible in the source; assignment to the 1957 season remains probable because the incomplete volume mixes material without clear year headings.

1961Roswell High School / shared / milestoneRichard Smith arrivesRichard Smith's Hall of Fame biography dates his Roswell career from 1961 to retirement in 1989. It credits him with 22 years leading varsity boys basketball, six years leading varsity girls basketball and a combined 384-186 record. His boys team won the 1971 Class A title, and the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association named him its Class A Coach of the Year. The biography also lists nine subregion titles, two region titles and six holiday tournament wins. The tenure totals and career record are retrospective biographical claims.

It describes those figures as school scoring records. The same biography places her in the earlier girls playing format and gives 1975 as the year of conversion to the modern format. These claims remain attributed to that single biography pending independent corroboration.

What the evidence covers.

Recovered RHS seasons and historical records, with selected area-school achievements and individual school records.

Confirmed means the cited source supports the entry. Reported identifies an attributed account. Uncertain keeps an unresolved reading or conflict visible. None of these labels claims that every season has been recovered.
